The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of purchasing experience in meat, poultry, protein, or food manufacturing and strong knowledge of raw materials such as beef, chicken, and pork.

Position Summary
VA Coaching & Consulting is partnering with our client, a growing food manufacturing and protein processing company, to identify an experienced Purchasing Manager - Raw Materials.
This role is responsible for managing the purchasing, sourcing, supplier relationships, pricing, and availability of key raw materials, including beef, chicken, pork, and other protein-related ingredients. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in the meat, poultry, food manufacturing, or protein industry and understand the importance of cost control, quality, food safety, supplier reliability, and production needs.
We are looking for a hands-on purchasing professional who can help strengthen vendor partnerships, improve purchasing processes, monitor market conditions, and ensure raw materials are available to support daily production.
Key Responsibilities
The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for:
  • Purchasing raw materials, including beef, chicken, pork, and other protein items.
  • Managing supplier and vendor relationships.
  • Negotiating pricing, terms, availability, and delivery schedules.
  • Monitoring market trends and raw material cost changes.
  • Ensuring raw materials meet company quality, food safety, and specification requirements.
  • Working closely with production, quality assurance, inventory, finance, and operations teams.
  • Maintaining proper purchasing records, vendor documentation, and pricing agreements.
  • Supporting inventory control and helping prevent material shortages.
  • Identifying new suppliers and backup vendor options.
  • Helping improve purchasing systems, processes, and cost-saving strategies.
  • Communicating supply risks, pricing changes, or availability concerns to leadership.
  • Supporting company growth through strong procurement planning and supplier management.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience in the meat, poultry, protein, or food manufacturing industry.
