Title: Front Desk Medical Receptionist
Location: Fairfax (this position will be required to work in offices in Falls Church and/or Alexandria as needed)
Report to: Office Manager
Schedule: Monday-Friday, during the following hours (determined by office needs): 7:30am - 4pm; 8am - 4:30pm; 8:30am - 5pm; 9:30am - 6pm
FLSA Status: non-exempt/hourly
Position Overview
We are a BUSY, patient-centered, 17-doctor private ophthalmology practice with three offices: one in Fairfax, one in Falls Church, and one in Alexandria. We are looking for a dedicated and friendly administrative professional to be the welcoming face of our practice and provide our patients with exceptional service. This position will collaborate with the Office Manager and the rest of the team to create an inviting atmosphere for all patients, ensure every patient feels welcome, valued, and attended to during their visit, and uphold compliance with NVOA's policies and our practice's high standards of care.
Position Requirements
The ideal candidates will have
  • Previous experience as a medical receptionist in a similar setting
  • Familiarity with medical insurance and referral processes
  • Strong communication skills, along with being courteous, reliable, and a quick learner
  • Thrive in a busy environment that requires multitasking, organization, and teamwork.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable
  • Experience in answering patient calls and scheduling medical appointments is highly desirable
  • Commute to all NVOA offices as needed

Detailed Job Description
  • Greeting patients in a polite, prompt, professional, and helpful manner
  • Checking patients in/out
  • Collecting patient co-pays/unmet deductibles/balances
  • Answering patient calls in a pleasant manner
  • Addressing patients' needs promptly
  • Scheduling appointments and follow-ups for patients
  • Processing payments for patients
  • Communicating effectively with the physicians and other staff members, as well as other doctors' offices
  • Updating patient demographics in our practice management systems
  • Scanning in insurance cards and IDs in our EHR system
  • Maintaining a clean work area
  • Performing other office duties as needed
