JOB SUMMARY
The Manager, Software Engineering leads a blended engineering squad of internal software engineers, QA automation engineers, vendors, and strategic partners. The role is accountable for delivery, stability, and continuous improvement of the Artemis platform, overseeing user interfaces, backend services, batch processing, and operational workflows. Responsibilities include engineering quality, production reliability, vendor management, and stakeholder communication.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage and develop internal software engineers and QA automation engineers through objective setting, coaching, performance feedback, and prioritization to ensure team effectiveness and accountability.
  • Direct and oversee delivery from vendors and strategic partners, including QA automation resources, with responsibility for work allocation, execution, quality, issue resolution, and performance assessment.
  • Establish and maintain delivery practices for blended teams, ensuring clear ownership, predictable execution, collaboration, and consistent engineering standards across internal contributors, vendors, and strategic partners.
  • Coordinate dependencies across product, business, architecture, security, infrastructure, and support functions to remove obstacles and align priorities.
  • Drive operational excellence through incident response, root cause analysis, service reliability, performance improvement, and production support readiness.
  • Ensure engineering work meets standards for code quality, testing, release management, security, compliance, supportability, and maintainability.
  • Govern agile delivery through backlog discipline, sprint and release planning, execution tracking, risk management, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote disciplined engineering and DevOps practices, including automated build and deployment pipelines, environment consistency, monitoring, and operational handoffs.
  • Support platform integration and data exchange through reliable API and job-based interfaces with enterprise systems.
  • Communicate delivery status, operational health, risks, decisions, and remediation plans to stakeholders, escalating issues as needed.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors, maintaining accountability, execution discipline, talent development, and engineering excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS
DEGREE TYPE: Bachelor's Degree
FIELD(S) OF STUDY: Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field
EXPERIENCE
  • 8-10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, application delivery, or technical product development roles, including ownership of production systems and business-critical application delivery.
  • 3-5+ years of people leadership experience, including direct management of engineering teams with responsibility for execution, performance, and talent development.
  • Experience leading delivery for modern software applications spanning user interfaces, APIs, backend services, and scheduled or batch processing components.
  • Experience operating in cloud-based environments, preferably AWS, with exposure to containerized deployments, managed databases, and application hosting patterns suitable for enterprise platforms.
  • Experience with software delivery practices across the full development lifecycle, including planning, design, development, testing, release management, and production support.
  • Experience managing vendor-supported or blended delivery models that combine internal employees with external engineering partners.
  • Experience working in agile delivery models with responsibility for sprint execution, risk management, dependency coordination, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong understanding of production operations, incident management, service reliability, performance monitoring, and the support requirements of business-facing applications.
  • Experience leading platform modernization, improving CI/CD maturity, strengthening observability and reliability practices, and advancing engineering standards in growing or transforming teams.
  • Familiarity with enterprise web and service technologies such as Angular-based interfaces, Python services and integrations, relational databases, API-based integration patterns, and secure authentication methods.

  • Strong execution discipline, including planning, prioritization, dependency management, issue escalation, and sustained attention to delivery commitments.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify process gaps, implement operational improvements, and reinforce effective engineering practices.
  • Ability to lead hybrid delivery models that include internal employees and external partners while maintaining consistent standards, clear ownership, and strong team alignment.
  • Commitment to engineering quality, operational stability, security, and compliance in the delivery and management of enterprise applications.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES
  • Preferred certifications may include Agile or Scrum credentials, AWS cloud certifications, or other relevant software engineering, delivery management, or solution architecture certifications.
