JOB TITLE: Regional Sales Manager - Automotive

Our products are used in a wide variety of fields and industries spanning watch-making, medical technology, renewable energies, shipbuilding, automotive, and aviation.

Summary: As a key member of the VAC Magnetics LLC sales team, the Regional Sales Manager Automotive reports to the General Manager Americas and is responsible for developing relationships and driving sales with key customers in the defined target market segments to meet revenue and profit objectives for the organization. The RSM works closely with the functional areas of Global Marketing, Global Engineering and Global Manufacturing and other key stakeholders as needed. The RSM creates and maintains intimate relationships with key customers to drive targeted sales that support our global strategy and financial goals and works to exceed customers’ expectations. The position requires traveling within the Americas (including Canada and Mexico) for customer and company meetings and occasionally to Europe or Asia.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Execute strategic plan for automotive industry, and develop new key accounts within the region on an annual basis consistent with annual and long-range plans. Assume contract responsibility (terms and conditions), development agreements and manage price negotiations.
  • Leverage industry expertise, customer application knowledge and a keen understanding of the VAC value proposition to develop intimate customer relationships with key customers to earn the status of trusted advisor within the customer’s business.
  • Develop relationships with critical ecosystem partners including OEM’s and other allied supply partners.
  • Collaborate with Engineering & Global commercial team to solve automotive customers’ most difficult challenges through new product development. Influence the development of the automotive project pipeline, including required new product introduction and planned obsolescence.
  • Share the America’s Automotive technical and market leadership best practices with the global team.
  • Encourage balanced risk taking, innovation and accountability, challenges status quo.
  • Demonstrate personal effectiveness and leadership that creates a culture of high performance; nurture an environment consistent with the VAC values and culture.
  • Partner with Marketing function to develop robust strategies regarding positioning within the market. Represent VAC at appropriate at trade association shows and meetings to promote products.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Engineering; Masters or MBA with additional commercial degree(s) highly desirable
  • 8-10 years of experience in Sales with proven record of accomplishment growing revenue and profit over targets; Sales Management experience preferred.
  • 4-5 years in automotive industry and project management experience is a must – a proven and demonstrable track record of success in automotive sales.
  • B2B experience with Automotive OEM’s / Tier I and II Suppliers selling engineered and technical products required.
  • Exceptional record of accomplishment of developing, implementing and analyzing strategic business (competitive), marketing and sales strategies that have consistently met or exceeded planned objectives, providing personal leadership through example.
  • Proven record of accomplishment of developing customer relationships and becoming a trusted advisor to the customer’s business preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with experience in communicating and working with a remote region.
  • Proven ability to generate respect and trust from staff and external constituencies along with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a results driven, team-oriented environment.
  • Spanish (written and verbal) highly desirable.
  • Travel Requirements: 60% travel through the Americas (including Canada and Mexico).
