Job description

As an Application Development Engineer, you will help develop and modernize our Guidewire insurance platform while integrating advanced AI capabilities. Working within an Agile scrum team, you will customize Guidewire PolicyCenter application, implement AI-powered features, predictive analytics, and automated decision-making, and build seamless integrations across systems. We ask that you have proficiency in Guidewire development (Gosu), familiarity with AI/ML concepts and tools and the ability to bridge traditional insurance technology with new AI innovations.
You will report to a Senior Manager, Engineering
In this hybrid role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month from the office and you should reside within approximately 50 miles of Madison, WI 53783.

Position Compensation Range:

Responsibilities:
  • Develop solutions to the level of quality defined by the requirements in adherence with standards, methodology and internal controls.
  • Understand and identify system dependencies. Understand functionality, integration points and impacts of proposed changes to supporting applications.
  • Provide appropriate documentation for design decisions, estimating assumptions, code modules, and performance metrics.
  • Define, conducts, and participates in testing (i.e. unit, system integration).
  • Collaborate with others regarding effectiveness of systems flow, data usage and manual or automated processes to verify requirements.
  • Ensure software development meets standards for programming, design, performance, quality, and security.
  • Participate in team activities and taking on additional work tasks to help the team accomplish the desired outcome or goals.
  • Create system documentation.

Requirements:
  • You must have experience coding in GOSU at an insurance company.
  • Develop and implement AI/ML models to improve underwriting processing, and pricing accuracy.
  • Integrate generative AI capabilities to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
  • Build intelligent automation solutions to refine business processes and reduce manual effort.
  • Use AI tools for code generation, testing, and documentation.
  • Develop end-to-end solutions using Guidewire PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, and ClaimCenter, and maintain integrations with external systems using APIs, web services, and messaging frameworks.
  • Configure and customize Guidewire products to meet our requirements using GOSU, PCF, and Guidewire configuration tools.
  • Experience with application architecture, design alternatives, and development standards.
  • 2+ years of experience in product upgrades and GW Cloud migration.
  • Experience in Perform unit testing, integration testing, and support QA efforts for application releases.
  • Demonstrated experience using relational databases and standard query language (SQL).
  • Experience with systems development life cycle (SDLC).
  • 3+ years of experience in collaborate with business analysts, product owners, and partners to gather and refine requirements.
  • Experience in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives.
  • Knowledge in CI/CD pipeline development and deployment automation.
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure quality.
