UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center (UM BWMC), a member of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), is seeking a Board-Certified AP/CP Pathologist to join our dynamic team in Glen Burnie, MD with strong surgical pathological diagnostic skills, teamwork-oriented work ethic, excellent communication skills and a collegial personality to provide a wide range of subspecialty expertise in anatomic and clinical pathology.

UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center Department of Pathology is a collaborative group of pathologists with diverse areas of expertise and levels of experience who play a critical role in their collaborative work with the on-site Tate Cancer Center in establishing the diagnosis and determining the treatment management of complex cancer patients. We have rapidly growing GI endoscopy and pulmonary services, and many of our clinicians cross-practice at the academic flagship, the University of Maryland Medical Center, bringing the flavor and pace of academia to a community hospital.

BWMC anatomic pathology processes approximately 15,000 surgical and non-gynecologic cytology specimens per year, excluding Pap tests and autopsies. Clinical pathology provides on-site services in clinical chemistry, hematology/coagulation, microbiology and transfusion medicine. 

Job Description

Signing out surgical cases in a general sign out model, including complex cancer resections with a strong case volume with breast, GI, genitourinary, GYN and thoracic. 

Interpreting intraoperative frozen sections and rapid onsite cytology evaluations

Assisting with daily Core Lab and Blood Bank laboratory workflow

Home call shared equitably

Group participation in GI, GU, Thoracic and Neurosurgery tumor boards (digital option)

Work Experience

Qualifications

Possesses and maintains current license to practice medicine in the State of Maryland required prior to start date.

Possesses and maintains current Board Certification within Anatomical Pathology and Clinical Pathology is required.

Preferred Candidates with 5 years of AP/CP experience or prior sign out experience as a fellow

Demonstrates meeting minimum CME requirements for licensure and board certification.

Demonstrates appropriate qualifications and experience to perform the duties required of this position.
