Dresden Nuclear Power Station, in Morris, Illinois is looking for an exceptional addition to their team as a Radiation Protection (RP) ALARA Specialist or Sr Radiation Protection (RP) ALARA Specialist.
This position is a MULTI-LEVEL Position that can be filled at the Radiation Protection (RP) ALARA Specialist level OR at the Sr Radiation Protection (RP) ALARA Specialist level. Please see below for minimum requirements of each level.

Expected salary range of $118,800 to $132,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).
Primary Purpose of Position
Is accountable for implementing the station As Low as Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) program through the activities of ALARA planning or application of effective ALARA techniques such as lead shielding, flushing, and implementation of technology used to reduce exposure. Implements the long-term planning processes of Constellation and assists the department in on-line and outage Radiation Protection (RP) planning activities and preparation.
Primary Duties and Accountabilities
  • Attend meetings representing Radiation Protection and ALARA and ensure the appropriate RP resources are properly scheduled.
  • Tracking and monitoring RP metrics for Collective Radiation Exposure (CRE) reduction including personnel exposure, industry metrics, and other plant parameters to ensure that the site maintains an appropriate focus on CRE.
  • Assist Station Personnel to ensure work is properly scheduled to take advantage of ALARA controls.
  • Perform in progress reviews and write ALARA packages as directed.
  • Implement corrective actions, self-assessments, and benchmarking into departmental and self-learning objectives.
  • Perform in field observations of work and ensure that appropriate standards of performance are met
  • Develop and deliver oral and written communications effective for all audiences.
  • Perform other job assignments and duties as directed by management or pursuant to company policy, including but not limited to emergency response, departmental coverage, call outs, and support of outage activities in positions outside the department.

  • Bachelor's degree in health physics or related science degrees (e.g. chemistry, physics, medical physics, etc.) with 1 year of related experience OR
  • Current or previous Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license with 5 years of related experience OR
  • Associate's degree in health physics or related science degrees (e.g. chemistry, physics, medical physics, etc.) with 3 years of related experience OR
  • High school diploma/GED with qualifications for ANSI 3.1 RP Technician OR 5 years of related experience
  • Maintain minimum access requirement or unescorted access requirements, as applicable, and favorable medical examination and/or testing in accordance with position duties

Sr Radiation Protection (RP) ALARA Specialist Job Code XCA3
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in health physics or related science degrees (e.g. chemistry, physics, medical physics, etc.) with 4 years of experience in applied Radiation Protection OR
  • Current or previous Senior Reactor Operator license with 5 years of applied Radiation Protection experience OR
  • Associate's degree in health physics or related science degrees (e.g. chemistry, physics, medical physics, etc.) AND 6 years of experience in applied Radiation Protection OR
  • High school diploma/GED with 4 years as a qualified ANSI 3.1 RP Technician OR minimum of 8 years of experience in applied Radiation Protection
  • Maintain minimum access requirement or unescorted access requirements, as applicable, and favorable medical examination and/or testing in accordance with position duties
