Job description

Are you an experienced Life Safety inspector with knack for developing end user relationships? Do you take pride in accuracy and providing customers with superior customer service? If so, we want to talk to you.
VFP Fire Systems, a division of Viking Fire Protection Group, in Madison Heights, MI, is seeking a Life Safety Inspector to join our skilled team. We provide world-class fire protection services using cutting-edge technology, earning our clients' trust to protect their property. In this role, you'll be responsible for running fire alarm cable, installing devices, and ensuring all work meets the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Responsibilities:
  • Inspecting fire life safety systems including fire sprinkler, fire alarm, fire extinguishers, kitchen hoods, etc.
  • Complete annual, semi-annual, and quarterly inspections of all fire life safety systems
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and submit it in a timely manner
  • Note any and all deficiencies on system and note them properly on paperwork
  • Daily communications with Inspections Manager and/or Schedule Coordinator on inspection status
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills by consistently communicating with company staff and customers to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Perform administrative duties including completing daily service acknowledgements, safety documentation, and other related duties as required.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Beginner level of inspecting fire sprinkler systems (training will be provided)
  • Motivation to gain knowledge and in-depth experience of applicable fire sprinkler codes and standards
  • Experience using technology and able to learn new data entry skills
  • Customer focused interpersonal skills and proven ability to build long term customer relationships
  • Strong organizational skills, multi-tasking skills, ability to be resourceful and proactive when completing duties

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • NICET in Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems strongly preferred (within 3 months)
  • Valid state driver's license required
  • Willingness to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check, and MVR

Pay Range
  • $25/hr - $30/hr depending on experience and abilities
