Job description

Health Images Diamond Hill is looking for a Full-Time Mammography Trainee to join our Team! An ideal candidate will have an XR Registry and experience/exposure in Mammography or ready to cross-train on a fast track to obtain a Mammography registry.
Position Pay Range $36.88 - $39.99||Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm ||

Summary/Objective

The Mammography Trainee performs routine and diagnostic exams relating to breast anatomy to obtain images at a satisfactory level under the guidance of a certified Mammography Technologist. Maintains and monitors patient environment, adheres to safety procedures and contributes to the security and maintenance of the unit.

Essential Functions

·        Interfaces with patients to ascertain medical history and provides instructions/explanation of the procedure and/or exam to obtain the best possible image.

·         Provides patient education on breast self-examination as needed.

·         Reviews patient charts for missed clinical information and/or consent.

·         Screens patients for surgical and other implants, contrast allergies, etc.

·         Obtains prior imaging as needed and performs high quality scans to submit to the Radiologist for interpretation. 

·         Performs exams while attending to patient’s care before, during and following exam and notifies the appropriate party if patient’s condition changes at any time.

·         Transfers images to other locations as needed.

·         Coordinates procedure protocols with Radiologist.

·         Maintains and regularly inspects equipment and immediately reports any quality concerns as well as equipment failures or deficiencies.

·         Interfaces with Lead Technologist & Center/Area Manager regarding any and all departmental concerns.

·         Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervision responsibilities.  

Work Environment

This job operates in an environmentally controlled outpatient clinical environment. Potential exposure to radiation, which is minimized by the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Possible exposure to bodily fluids, communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation and other conditions common to a medical office environment. Often requires work in cool, dimly lighted rooms.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by and employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

·         Ability to continuously “exceed” company and customer expectation

·         Strong communication skills & professional demeanor

Education / Certifications;

·         Graduate of an accredited Registered Technologist program

·         Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification

·         Registry in Mammography (M)

·         Complete 40 hours of mammography orientation

·         Complete 8 hours of 3D tomosynthesis training (if applicable)

·         Current license from state medical board (if applicable)

·         Current CPR/BLS certification
