The Major Account Manager is responsible for managing Emerald Transformer's strategic customer relationships and assigned major account portfolio to support long-term customer retention, account growth, and reliable execution of customer commitments. This role serves as a primary relationship owner for assigned major accounts and works closely with Sales, Operations, General Managers, and other internal stakeholders to align customer expectations, quotes, contracts, service needs, and project execution. The Major Account Manager is expected to identify opportunities to strengthen customer partnerships, monitor account trends that may impact Emerald Transformer, and resolve account-related issues in a timely and professional manner. This position requires working knowledge of the transformer industry and the ability to represent Emerald Transformer with customers at account sites, customer meetings, and trade show events.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage assigned major account(s) as defined by the Director of Sales and/or General Manager.
  • Establish, strengthen, and maintain long-term relationships with key contacts within major account organizations.
  • Communicate regularly with major customers to understand needs, respond to inquiries, support account planning, and reinforce Emerald Transformer's service commitments.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Sales, General Managers, and other internal stakeholders to discuss customer expectations, service performance, project status, quoting needs, and issue resolution.
  • Support account growth by identifying service, product, repair, recycling, field service, logistics, or other transformer-related opportunities that align with customer needs.
  • Monitor customer activity, industry trends, and account-specific developments that could positively or negatively impact Emerald Transformer and communicate relevant information in a timely manner.
  • Handle customer complaints, service concerns, and account issues promptly, professionally, and in coordination with the appropriate internal teams.
  • Suggest solutions, process improvements, service enhancements, and contract-related ideas that improve customer experience and strengthen major account agreements.
  • Become proficient with in-house systems and tools used to prepare, manage, and communicate quotes and account information.
  • Correspond with external and internal stakeholders through phone calls, emails, letters, meetings, and other communication channels needed for account management and project execution.
  • Maintain accurate records related to account activity, customer satisfaction, sales opportunities, quote status, contract needs, and areas for service or product growth.
  • Assist in the formulation, construction, review, and editing of major account contracts, scope changes, and related account documentation.
  • Negotiate changes to pricing, scope of work, terms, or service expectations when needed and within established approval guidelines.
  • Travel up to 15% to major account sites, customer meetings, and trade show events.
Education/Certifications
  • Associates degree or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in sales, marketing, business, supply chain, environmental services, or a related field preferred.
Experience
  • Experience managing customer relationships, major accounts, strategic accounts, business development activity, sales support, customer service, contract coordination, or related customer-facing work required.
  • Experience working with industrial, utility, manufacturing, environmental services, logistics, transformer services, or similar business-to-business customers preferred.
  • Knowledge of the transformer industry preferred.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
  • Working knowledge of account management practices, customer relationship management, quoting, contract support, and customer issue resolution.
  • Knowledge of transformer-related services, customer needs, and business considerations preferred, including the ability to learn Emerald Transformer's service offerings, terminology, and operational flow.
  • Ability to build trust with major customers and maintain professional relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly, write effective business communications, and interpret customer or contract-related information.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability, including identifying issues, gathering relevant information, coordinating with internal teams, and following through to resolution.
  • Strong planning, organization, prioritization, and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing customer and internal priorities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling customer, pricing, contract, or company information.
  • Ability to adapt to changing customer needs, service requirements, business priorities, and operational conditions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to learn in-house Emerald Transformer software and systems used for quotes, records, and account management.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail in maintaining records, reviewing documentation, communicating customer requirements, and supporting contract-related work.
  • Dependable work habits, consistent follow-through, responsiveness to direction, and willingness to seek feedback to improve performance.
