Reports to: Asset Manager FLSA Status: Hourly



Position Summary

The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective execution of all maintenance activities for a 24/7 catalyst recycling facility. This position provides leadership to the maintenance organization, ensuring equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and execution of the preventative maintenance strategy. The Maintenance Superintendent oversees the Maintenance Supervisors, Maintenance Planner, and Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) team while working closely with Operations, Engineering, Environmental, and Safety to maximize plant availability and production.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Establish clear expectations and hold employees accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and attendance.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, company safety policies, and environmental regulations.
  • Lead weekly maintenance meetings and participate in production planning meetings.
  • Conduct field audits, safety observations, and job site inspections.
  • Coach and develop supervisors and technicians to improve performance and accountability.
  • Direct all preventive, predictive, corrective, emergency, and turnaround maintenance activities.
  • Ensure work is planned, scheduled, and executed efficiently with minimal impact on production.
  • Follow the Asset Management strategy which is defined by the Engineering Manager.
  • Manage mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, rotating equipment, piping, structural, and utility maintenance.
  • Prioritize work orders based on safety, environmental risk, production impact, and asset criticality.
  • Ensure proper documentation within the CMMS (computerized maintenance management system), through detailed notes and correct work order management
  • Establish and monitor equipment KPI’s and implement corrective actions
  • Identify opportunities to optimize maintenance costs while improving reliability.
  • Manage to the annual maintenance execution budget
  • Monitor labor, contractor, and material costs.
  • Hire, train, coach, and evaluate maintenance personnel.
  • Evaluate contractor effectiveness and cost performance





Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or combination of Trade certification and leadership experience.

Experience

Required:

  • 15+ years of industrial maintenance experience
  • 10+ years leading maintenance teams
  • Experience supervising multiple maintenance disciplines.
  • Experience managing contractors.
  • Root Cause Failure Analysis
  • Vibration Analysis
  • Infrared Thermography
  • Oil Analysis
  • Mechanical Integrity Programs
  • CMMS experience – such as SAP, ROSS, Maximo, JD Edwards, etc

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work throughout an industrial manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and elevated platforms.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including respirators.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to respond to plant emergencies during off-hours when necessary.
