Maintenance Superintendent


The Maintenance Superintendent leads all maintenance activities for fixed and mobile equipment, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations. This hands-on leadership role oversees maintenance teams, drives equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, and promotes a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with company safety and environmental standards.
  • Supervise maintenance technicians and mechanics, providing daily direction, coaching, troubleshooting support, and performance management.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, overtime, and workforce development to meet operational goals.
  • Oversee maintenance planning and execution, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance with work management processes.
  • Lead daily maintenance meetings and collaborate with planners, operations, and reliability teams.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance compliance and accurate CMMS documentation.
  • Support equipment reliability through root cause analysis, continuous improvement initiatives, and best maintenance practices.
  • Control maintenance costs while maximizing equipment availability and production uptime.
  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators, including schedule compliance, PM compliance, break-in work, and maintenance costs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; Journeyman certification or engineering degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of maintenance leadership experience in mining, heavy equipment, or industrial operations.
