Job description

Position Summary

Rapid Removal, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Fleet & Equipment Maintenance Manager to lead, rebuild, and grow our maintenance department.

This is not a typical mechanic position. We are looking for a hands-on leader who can diagnose and repair equipment while also developing systems, managing technicians, prioritizing repairs, and building a high-performing maintenance team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving a fleet consisting of heavy equipment, dump trucks, tractor trailers, service vehicles, and demolition support equipment. This individual will work directly with ownership and operations management to reduce downtime, improve equipment reliability, establish accountability, and create a culture of preventative maintenance.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 10 years of heavy equipment and diesel repair experience, with prior experience supervising mechanics or leading a maintenance department.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all maintenance operations.
• Hire, train, develop, and supervise mechanics and support personnel.
• Establish preventative maintenance schedules and ensure compliance.
• Create systems to improve equipment uptime and reliability.
• Prioritize repairs based on operational needs.
• Manage maintenance budgets, parts inventory, and vendor relationships.
• Hold mechanics accountable for quality workmanship and productivity.
• Respond to critical equipment failures and assist with complex diagnostics.
• Develop reporting systems to track downtime, repair costs, and fleet performance.
• Work closely with operations management to support field production.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of diesel and heavy equipment repair experience.
• Prior supervisory or management experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu, Volvo, and similar equipment.
• Experience with hydraulic, electrical, engine, and diagnostic systems.
• Experience managing truck and trailer fleets.
• Proven ability to build teams and improve maintenance operations.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• CDL preferred but not required.
• Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
