Maintenance Manager

We are seeking a dependable, safety-conscious Maintenance Manager to support our operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all maintenance activities within a wire and cable manufacturing facility. This role ensures the reliability, safety, and efficiency of production equipment including wire drawing, bunching, extrusion and jacketing lines while minimizing downtime and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.


Essential Job Functions


Equipment & Facilities Maintenance

Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for all manufacturing and facility equipment.

Ensure optimal performance and uptime of wire drawing, extrusion, stranding, cabling, wrapping, and spooling equipment.

Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system issues.

Oversee maintenance of utilities such as compressors, chillers, cooling systems, and power distribution.


Leadership & Team Management

Supervise, coach, and develop maintenance technicians.

Assign daily work, manage shift coverage, and ensure timely response to breakdowns.

Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.


Planning & Reliability

Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules using a CMMS.

Analyze equipment failures and implement root cause corrective actions.

Track maintenance KPIs such as downtime and maintenance costs.


Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NEC, and environmental regulations.

Enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), arc flash, and machine guarding procedures.

Support audits and inspections (ISO 9001, customer audits as applicable).


Budgeting & Inventory

Prepare and manage the maintenance operating and capital budgets.

Control spare parts inventory for motors, drives, dies, tooling, bearings, and consumables.

Work with vendors and OEMs to source parts, service contracts, and upgrades.


Continuous Improvement & Projects

Support lean manufacturing, TPM, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) initiatives.

Lead equipment upgrades, new line installations, and facility expansion projects.

Collaborate with production and engineering to improve equipment efficiency and product quality.

Requirements

  •  Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5-10 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably wire and cable, metals, plastics extrusion, or continuous-process manufacturing.
  • Proficient with computers and maintenance planning tools.
  • Prior supervisory or management experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of:  Extrusion systems (PVC, XLPE, rubber, thermoplastics, AC/DC motors, VFDs, servo systems, PLCs and industrial controls, and mechanical systems, gearboxes, bearings, and alignment
  • Experience with TPM or Lean Manufacturing
  • Project management experience
  • Electrical license or certification
  • Familiarity with UL, CSA, and customer-specific cable manufacturing standards

The essential functions of this job require working within a production facility with exposure to various noise levels, heat and moving machinery.
