Job description

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager, has primary responsibility for accomplishing corrective maintenance and minor additions and alterations to the Hospital Physical Plant and buildings and to a lesser extent to typical mechanical and electrical systems. Has primary responsibility for accomplishing and recording minor physical and mechanical plant work order requests as assigned by the Maintenance Manager. Also does corrective type repairs to restore buildings and mechanical plant equipment to its original or normal condition including, but is not limited to, repairs of minor office equipment, repairs to housekeeping and nursing support equipment, minor carpentry work and minor electrical work such as replacement of lighting. Does floor care on a routine schedule: waxing, shampooing, etc. Does seasonal work, snow removal and maintenance of sidewalks and walkways and grounds work: mowing, tree trimming, maintenance of flower and planting beds and sprinkler systems.

Essential Job Functions:

Performs and logs daily pre-established general rounds, accomplishing minor physical plant corrective maintenance and work order assignments, performs corrective maintenance as directed.

Has primary responsibility for accomplishing and recording minor physical and mechanical plant work order requests as assigned by the Maintenance Manager. Corrective type repairs to restore buildings and mechanical plant equipment to its original or normal condition, includes, but is not limited, repairs of minor office equipment, repairs to department support equipment, minor carpentry work and minor electrical work such as replacement of lighting.

Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the unit.

Calculates Material needed and develops material lists.

Working from Work Order Request forms, verbal instructions or detailed specifications, diagrams, sketches or plans, coordinates activities to expedite work

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma, GED or equivalent

Three to five years' maintenance experience in a building trade setting, military or other related experience.

Demonstration of his/her ability to operate and maintain typical maintenance tools in accomplishing general utility maintenance is desirable in this job description.

Knowledge of proper and safe use of hand and power tools.

Basic understanding of building physical plant systems such as door hardware, ceiling systems, assembly of carts and shelving systems, basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry.

Full time, 40 hours per week
