Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting all aspects of maintenance, repairs, and physical plant duties while supporting other maintenance technicians. Position may require work during after-hours and weekends.
Essential Functions
The duties and responsibilities include - but are not limited to - the following:
  1. Prioritize and conduct routine preventive maintenance on landscaped areas, turf, trees, irrigation systems, and general campus grounds as assigned through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Review and request updates to the PM Task List with the Grounds Supervisor, when needed.
  2. Prioritize, create, and complete non-PM work orders for seasonal maintenance duties on landscaped areas, turf, general grounds and irrigation systems as assigned through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  3. Compliance with college-issued mobile device(s) protocol: device(s) is/are required for communication, work completion, and must be fully charged and available for use throughout staff member's entire work schedule.
  4. Conduct all duties associated with the maintenance/repair of landscaped areas, turf, trees, irrigation systems, and general campus grounds, while reporting other observed required maintenance needs to the Director of Grounds/Director of Facilities.
  5. Assist with the maintenance of grounds equipment.
  6. Help maintain and monitor parts and supply inventories.
  7. Report to campus following inclement weather or special events.
  8. Perform all duties and assist all persons on our campus in a professional manner that honors and promotes the five core values of Sandhills Community College, which are: integrity, (persistent) helpfulness, excellence, respect and opportunity.

Qualifications
  1. High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  2. Valid North Carolina Driver's License.
  3. Grounds maintenance experience in a heavily landscaped setting requiring turf care.
  4. Experience using mobile device technology including apps, messaging, etc.
  5. Ability to participate in safety training and to comprehend and practice the training in the course of duty.
  6. Ability to interact, communicate, and maintain effective relations with students, the public, faculty, and staff.
  7. Ability to follow guidelines/directives and maintain a neat and professional appearance.
