Basic Job Functions:
The role of the Maintenance Product Buyer is to coordinate, oversee, and execute the proper procurement strategies to maintain the needed inventory for all plant repairs. These strategies include purchasing and inventorying stock and non-stock items. Place purchase orders and coordinate delivery for these items. Responsible for implementing effective processes and developing vendor relationships to drive financial success for the division. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coordinating on time deliveries, performing cycle counts, processing end-of-month input and reconciliation, and backing-up other purchasing teammates.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 2 years of purchasing experience or 2 years of multi-craft maintenance experience.
  • Applied knowledge and practice using Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word documents.
  • Knowledge of general purchasing and accounting practices

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with inventory control.
  • Ability to interpret prints efficiently.
  • Knowledge of production equipment, part identification and terminology.
  • Extended education or experience in a technical/maintenance field.
