Job description

Position Summary

We Pack It All (WPIA) is seeking a proactive and execution-focused Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to support and execute safety programs across our manufacturing operations. This role will help strengthen workplace safety, reinforce supervisor accountability, and support the continued professionalization of WPIA’s safety systems.

The EHS Specialist will play a key role in maintaining and strengthening WPIA’s EHS programs, supporting safety training and workforce development, and partnering with operations leadership to drive consistent safety practices across our facilities.

WPIA is currently working with Comprehensive Safety Professionals (CSP), an external safety consulting firm, to support the development and enhancement of elements of our EHS management systems. The EHS Specialist will collaborate with internal leaders and may support implementation or ongoing execution of these programs as they are rolled out.

This position supports operations at both of WPIA’s manufacturing facilities in Duarte and Irwindale, located approximately 1 mile apart. The role plays a critical part in reinforcing WPIA’s commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across operations.

Core Responsibilities

Safety Management System Execution

• Support the execution and ongoing development of WPIA’s EHS Management System
• Conduct routine safety audits, hazard assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), and facility walkthroughs
• Identify hazards and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions
• Maintain hazard tracking logs and ensure corrective actions are completed and documented
• Monitor safety trends and proactively identify emerging risk areas across operations
• Support near-miss reporting and hazard identification programs to strengthen proactive safety practices

Incident Investigation & Risk Mitigation

• Lead incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action development
• Partner with Operations leadership to implement prevention measures and reinforce accountability
• Maintain incident documentation and ensure compliance with OSHA and Cal-OSHA reporting requirements
• Track and report incident trends and recommend improvement initiatives

Safety Training & Workforce Development (Key Ownership Area)

• Own and deliver safety training programs for hourly employees, supervisors, and managers
• Coordinate and deliver safety onboarding training for new hires
• Partner with HR to integrate safety training into WPIA’s Learning Management System (LMS)
• Develop and maintain structured safety learning paths aligned with job roles and operational risk areas
• Reinforce supervisor safety accountability through coaching, education, and leadership engagement
• Support the development of a proactive safety culture across both facilities

Compliance & Regulatory Support

• Support compliance with OSHA, Cal-OSHA, and workplace safety regulations
• Assist in managing programs such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE compliance, and hazard communication
• Maintain safety records, documentation, and required compliance reports
• Support regulatory inspections, internal audits, and compliance reviews
• Ensure training records and safety documentation remain accurate, complete, and audit-ready

Cross-Functional Partnership

• Partner closely with Operations leadership to reinforce safety ownership at the supervisor level
• Collaborate with HR on investigations, compliance initiatives, and employee accountability processes
• Support leadership efforts to strengthen workplace safety culture and operational discipline

Facility Coverage Model

The EHS Specialist will support safety operations across both WPIA manufacturing facilities:

Duarte Facility
Irwindale Facility

The facilities are located approximately 1 mile apart, and the role will maintain a regular presence at both locations to support safety programs, training, and operational needs.

Travel between facilities is required.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment
• Experience conducting safety audits, hazard assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), and incident investigations
• Experience delivering safety training to employees and supervisors
• Strong understanding of OSHA and Cal-OSHA safety regulations
• Familiarity with safety programs such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE compliance, and workplace risk assessments
• Strong communication, coaching, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently while influencing operational leaders

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in food manufacturing, packaging, or industrial production environments
• Experience implementing structured safety programs or EHS management systems
• OSHA 30 Certification
• ASP certification (Associate Safety Professional) preferred

Key Competencies

• Safety leadership and ownership mindset
• Strong investigative and analytical skills
• Ability to influence supervisor and employee behavior
• Strong organizational and follow-through discipline
• Professional communication and coaching capability
• Commitment to continuous improvement and workforce development
