Job description

The Maintenance Associate is responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep of the facility. This individual works independently to ensure that all equipment, systems, and structures are properly maintained, repaired, and operating safely and efficiently.

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities include the following:

  • Inspects, operates, and/or tests machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Dismantles machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, or power tools.
  • Performs routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, and completing other preventive maintenance actions.
  • Diagnoses mechanical problems and determines how to correct them, referencing blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Repairs machines, equipment, or structures using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, as well as precision measuring instruments and electrical or electronic testing devices.
  • Assembles, installs, and/or repairs wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
  • Performs routine maintenance on boilers, such as replacing burners or hoses, installing replacement parts, and reinforcing structural weaknesses to ensure optimal efficiency.
  • Orders parts, supplies, or equipment from catalogs or suppliers as needed.
  • Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment service schedules.
  • Communicates effectively with the Head Grower regarding maintenance priorities, status updates, and any facility concerns.
  • Supports a safe working environment by following all safety protocols and procedures.
Requirement:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or coursework in a trade, horticulture, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a maintenance or facilities role.
  • Basic computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish helpful, but not required.
  • Flexible work schedule to include some weekends.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and remain open to new ideas and changes.
