These jobs typically include roles such as cleaners, porters, handypersons, and superintendents who are responsible for the upkeep and daily operations of commercial and residential buildings. Workers in these positions benefit from union-negotiated wages, benefits, and protections. The union advocates for fair labor standards, workplace safety, and employee rights. Being part of the 32BJ Union often means access to better healthcare, retirement plans, and job security compared to non-union maintenance jobs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Maintenance Worker in a 32BJ Union environment, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Maintenance Worker in a 32BJ Union setting, you need practical skills in building systems, plumbing, electrical work, and basic carpentry, often supported by a high school diploma and relevant experience. Familiarity with tools such as HVAC systems, power tools, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is typically required.
