COBOL Developer (834 Enrollment Files) โ€“ Remote


Pay: $53.90/hour (W2 only)
Location: 100% Remote โ€“ Open to candidates from approved states


About the Role

Seeking an experienced COBOL Developer with hands-on experience working with EDI 834 enrollment files. This role involves developing and implementing new incoming EDI 834 files for commercial group enrollment. Youโ€™ll collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to automate, test, and maintain mainframe-based systems supporting enrollment operations.


Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe COBOL applications.

  • Work with EDI vendors and business groups to set up JCL programs for new commercial group files.

  • Test and implement new incoming EDI 834 enrollment files.

  • Develop automation solutions for new group enrollments.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues to reduce downtime.

  • Provide technical support and guidance to team members.

  • Document technical processes and maintain system integrity.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in mainframe systems and programming.

  • Strong hands-on experience with COBOL (mainframe environment).

  • Experience working with EDI 834 enrollment files โ€“ REQUIRED.

  • Solid understanding of financial and healthcare-related processes.
