Overview

Maimonides is currently seeking an Operating Room Attendant to assist nursing personnel in the care of surgical patients and assist with the preservation of an aseptic environment.


Responsibilities
  • Transport pre- and post-operative patients to/from the Operating Room and Post Anesthesia Care Unit.
  • Prepare and assist with the transfer of patients to/from the Operating Room Table/Stretcher, and assist with the positioning of patients for the surgical procedure/introduction of spinal anesthesia.
  • Assist Operating Room Nursing Staff with post-mortem care.
  • Hold extremities during the preparation/draping process of the surgical procedure.
  • Prepare the identified surgical site and the appropriate surrounding area.
  • Bring equipment to/from the storage area to/from rooms as requested.
  • Handle instrument tray delivery/returns and take specimens to the Laboratory and Blood Bank, in the absence of primary personnel (observing infection control protocol).
  • Clean Operating Room Suite between cases, dispose of trash/laundry in appropriate hold containers.
  • Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.

Qualifications
  • A High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 6 months to one (1) year of experience as a nurse’s aide preferred.
  • Good communication & interpersonal skills.

Pay Range
USD $26.88 - USD $27.41 /Hr.
