The Mail Screening Technician ensures the safe and accurate processing of all incoming mail and parcels by conducting visual inspections, operating xray and detection equipment, and identifying potential threats. The role follows strict safety and emergency protocols, prevents crosscontamination of client mail, documents processing activity, and supports daily logistics and administrative tasks. Success requires strong attention to detail, professionalism under pressure, teamwork, and experience in mail screening, warehouse operations, or securityrelated environments

Work Schedule: varies M-F 7a-4p/8a-5p/9a-6p

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive mail at screening facility and ensure all inbound items are bagged and secured prior to bringing inside building.
• Visually inspect all inbound pieces in an effort to identify suspicious items.
- Pick up US Mail and packages from various post office(s) and 3rd party courier hubs
• Screen all mail pieces and parcels entering facility.
• Inspect packages using x-ray viewing equipment to determine whether items contain objects that warrant further investigation
• Test packages for any threats, using equipment such as explosive detection machines or chemical detection systems
• Recognize and isolate suspicious mail/parcels for further investigation
.• If suspicious items are encountered, safeguard and ensure emergency procedures and notifications are followed.
• Ensure safe screening processes are followed in execution of duties.
• Ensure engineering controls are maintained and followed.
• Execute services timely and accurately.
• Prevent co-mingling of various clients' mail.
• Stage processed mail and assist in loading onto vehicle for departure.
- Perform daily customer deliveries per assigned route.
• Record volume, arrival, processing and departure time of items.
• Operate office services and warehouse equipment.
• Provide assistance and support to Site Screening Supervisor for all administrative, reporting and operating functions.
• Work to ensure compliance with existing systems and controls.
• Responds to all issues and inquiries and ensures appropriate escalation processes are followed by communicating critical issues to Site Screening Supervisor without delay.
• Maintain inventory of equipment and consumables.
• Keep work area clean and ensure site cleanliness at end of the day.
• Work well with others and as a team player.
• Assertive and resourceful; self motivated; willing to ask questions and take initiative be able to communicate clearly.
• Consistently demonstrates professional demeanor, appearance and attitude.
• Proven ability to remain calm under pressure; resilient.
• Ability to appropriately handle confidential and highly sensitive information
• Flexibility to work early hours, evenings or weekends as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Possess High School Diploma or GED
• Possess two (2) years mail/ parcel screening or 2 years of warehouse experience.
• Prior experience: team lead, customer service driven, TSA or mail screening background, X-Ray mail screening certified, intermediate to advanced CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosive) knowledge.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• A team player who possesses customer focus skills.
• Ability to perform physical tasks relating to mail distribution and pick-up
• Possess a "can do" attitude
• Possess Keyboarding and Windows environment PC Skills
• Handle multiple projects at one time.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment on a daily basis.
• Ability to execute services timely and accurately.
• Ability to effectively work individually of in team environment.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Ability to meet employer's attendance policy.
• Must have valid driver's license, clean driving record.
- Ability to operate a company van to pick up and delivery mail and packages,
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
