Job description

Salary: $18.50/Hour Minimum
Bargaining Unit (click here for contracts): AGCEP Contract
Report Times: 6:30AM - 2:30PM
Daily Hours: 8 (7.5 Paid)
Work Year: 49 weeks
Supervisor: Principal
Civil Service Title: Office Clerk II (Competitive -  NY HELPS Program)
Minimum Requirements: 
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:












(A) Graduation with an Associate's degree or successful completion of at least sixty (60) credit hours from a college or university; OR,
(B) Two (2) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent office clerical or secretarial experience*; OR,
(C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.

*Experience as a Teller, Cashier or Sales Clerk will not be considered appropriate experience for the purposes of these minimum qualifications.
 

This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title.
At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status.

Experience working on a team;
Experience managing several projects
Position Summary/Responsibilities: 
Functions as Counseling Secretary, providing support to Counselors and Social Workers, including: Scheduling student appts, parents meetings, calling students to the office, assist with various duties and events throughout the school year and assist with Counseling office mailings;
Answer phone calls and respond; refer to correct office/staff member if needed;
Process and accurately maintains database for all students transferring in or out of the building and communicate this information to staff;
Works with the Transportation Department to obtain bussing for new students, displaced and travel class students;
Assists in maintaining Alumni Records;
Process all Alumni Transcripts, records request, and education verification forms;
Processes and maintains database for recording of student at alternative locations, including home tutoring for building;
Processes all returned mail for building, changing primary addresses as required;
Supporting planning of school events such as graduation, honor roll ceremonies, etc;
Other duties as assigned.
