Presently, MAG is seeking the following position:
Mechanical Project Engineer
SUMMARY
Responsibility for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering tasks for projects to meet specification, quality, schedule and budget requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Performs all work following documented departmental procedures and work instructions and utilizing the appropriate forms.
Directs the design in accordance with the proposal, sales order, company standards and procedures, customer specification and the machine qualification requirements.
Maintains project BOM, budget and schedule commitment.
Answers after sales change requests and coordinates content with Sales and the customer.
Assist Sales and Proposal Engineering in quoting new projects where applicable.
Generates and maintains appropriate records, reports and required documentation.
Manage engineering subcontractors.
Arrange design review meeting with engineering and manufacturing personnel.
Identify areas of risk on projects that could affect project schedule or cost, utilize risk management tools and processes to minimize or eliminate the risk.
Adheres to quality, customs, foreign trade zone and environmental processes and procedures.
Coordinates efforts of other departments/disciplines to maintain effective control of the project.
Manages suppliers of all project-related equipment and/or tooling.
Communicate with customers regarding project-related issues.
Informs appropriate management of all job activities
Seeks new innovations, components, etc. for integration into current design projects.
Shares ideas about process improvements and other cost saving measures with management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; plus, five or more years of machine tool design experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and employees.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with basic algebra, plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to perform all lower engineering disciplines, meet strict timetable and budgetary limits with quality results and evaluate the performance of subordinates to attain the best effort. Knowledgeable in word processing, and spreadsheet software preferably in Microsoft OFFICE. Prior experience with computer-aided 2D and 3D design software such as AutoCAD and Siemens NX is required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
May be required to travel for extended periods of time. May require temporary work assignments at customer of other MAG Automotive facilities. Travel to customer plant locations and subcontractors will be required.
