Job description

PURPOSE  

Machinist Level 1 is responsible to produce parts according to the instructions as laid out in the Shop Order as well as part drawing.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Keeping machines free and clear of chips and debris

• Keeping plenty of coolant in the machines 

• Be able to understand instructions as directed by the Machinist Level 2 and 3 and shop supervisors

• Must be able to work with QA dept. on measuring and discussing part accuracy and part quality with regards not only to compliance but also aesthetics and workmanship

• Maintains general cleanliness of all work areas and assure that all work areas are orderly, secure, and safe to work in.

PREFERRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Two year technical degree or equivalent experience

• Most possess proficient knowledge and skill for electrical and/or mechanical assemblies and possess excellent hand eye dexterity. Must have a basic understanding of the concept of building mechanical parts and basic knowledge and understanding as well as to use and measuring equipment.
