Job Title: CNC 5-Axis Machinist

Status: Nonexempt (Hourly)

Pay: $32.00 - $38.00/hr. DOE, plus monthly bonus program is paid when company-wide monthly sales goal is reached (full-time).

Schedule: Day Shift: Monday-Thursday 6:00 am - 4:30 pm

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The CNC 5-axis Machinist will be responsible to set up and run complex multi-axis machining jobs with a high level of precision and independence. This role focuses on attention to detail, and producing high-quality parts in a fast-paced, high-mix environment.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3–5+ years of CNC machining experience, including multi-axis or 5-axis machining.
  • Strong ability to set up complex jobs, including work holding, tooling setup, and work offset alignment.
  • Proficiency with G-code edits, toolpath understanding, and CNC controls (Haas, Mazak, DMG, or similar).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, and GD&T.
  • Strong understanding of feeds, speeds, tooling, and machining best practices.
  • Experience performing precision inspections and holding tight tolerances.

REQUIRED PERSONAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and machine parts with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate with others.
  • Experience with high-mix, low-volume job-shop work.
  • Excellent work ethic, reliability, and consistent attendance.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Set up and operate 5-axis CNC machining centers to produce precision components from start to finish.
  • Perform program edits and minor optimizations to improve part quality, tool life, and cycle time.
  • Select install, and verify tooling and fixtures, including custom workholding when required.
  • Use probing routines and advanced work offsets to accurately locate and align parts.
  • Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, and other precision tools.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues such as chatter, tool wear, dimensional deviations, or surface finish problems.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including part counts, inspection results, and job notes.
  • Work closely with Quality, Programming, and Engineering to resolve issues and ensure parts meet all specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Perform other necessary duties and tasks as requested.
