Job description

FMS Aerospace is currently seeking an entry-level Fabrication Shop Technician for our Huntsville office location. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to shop technicians & assisting with the production and manufacturing of our rack products. Another essential function for the successful candidate will be supporting the assembly and eventually learning to program and run CNC machines as needed.

Responsibilities

Work with fellow fabrication shop technicians to complete specific manufacturing projects, while learning various fabrication skillsets within a manufacturing setting.

  • Receive on-the-job training with seasoned, machine shop employees to gain basic knowledge of manufacturing tools and functions.
  • Be able to follow detailed instructions.
  • Operate basic hand tools.
  • Once trained, be able to read shop measuring equipment accurately.
  • Learn and assist with all aspects of manufacturing and work way up to programming CNC machines.
  • Assembly support functions of equipment racks.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma, or GED
  • 0-1 years' work experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Be able to life, carry, and maneuver 50 pounds
  • Ability to be on your feet for up to 8 hours
  • Be able to work 40 hours per week consistently
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be U.S. citizen
  • Must currently possess or be able to receive Department of Defense Secret clearance, if required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in machining is strongly recommended
  • Forklift experience is preferred
  • CAD/CAM experience
  • Read and understand "G" code
  • DoD or Military experience is a plus
  • Technical vocation-related schooling & certifications are a plus
