Job Title: Machine Shop Supervsior
Job Description
The Supervisor is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC and manual machines to produce high-quality parts. This role focuses on hands-on machining, maintaining tight tolerances, and supporting production needs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and program CNC lathes for production runs
- Operate CNC machines and support operators as needed
- Set up and run manual lathes and mills when required
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Select and set up tooling and fixtures for machining operations
- Conduct quality inspections using calipers and other measuring tools
- Monitor machining processes and make adjustments as needed
- Troubleshoot machining issues to minimize downtime and scrap
- Work with engineering to improve machining processes and tooling
- Optimize toolpaths and machining performance to increase efficiency
- Coordinate with suppliers to identify and obtain proper tooling
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Essential Skills:
- Experience as a CNC machinist with programming and setup experience
- Ability to operate both CNC and manual lathes and mills
- Strong understanding of tooling, setup, and machining processes
- Experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and gauges
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM programming
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong attention to detail and ability to hold tight tolerances
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience programming Mazatrol T Plus CNC controllers.
- Experience programming Mazatrol SmoothG CNC controllers.
- Experience optimizing CNC toolpaths for maximum tool life, quality, and productivity.
- Experience operating overhead cranes, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
- Experience collaborating with engineering teams on fixture design, tooling selection, and process improvement initiatives.

Work Environment
This role is based in a production machine shop environment with a focus on CNC and manual machining operations. The typical schedule consists of 10-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, with overtime and weekend work as needed to meet production demands. The setting involves working around running machinery, material handling equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, and pallet jacks, and requires adherence to strict safety practices and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment. The shop emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and safe work habits while operating in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
