Adjunct - Machine Shop Instructor
This posting is part of an ongoing recruitment effort. Applications are accepted year-round, and qualified candidates will be contacted as positions become available.
Overview:
Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, Workforce Development Center, invites applications for a part-time non-tenure-track Adjunct Instructor to begin at our Evendale Campus location beginning in late February 2022. Qualified candidates will need to teach college-level courses to our technical, transfer degree and non-degree seeking students in our Workforce Development Center. Responsibilities will include instructing students and providing relevant class/lab experiences needed to assist them in learning how to operate manual lathes, milling machines and surface grinders, as well as, and the successful completion of projects in the machine shop.
Essential Duties:
• Manage, organize, and teach courses in specific areas
• Responsible for utilizing diverse instructional strategies in response to student learning styles
• Responsible for increasing student retention, success and completion
• Provides instruction for the Machine Operator Program
• Assist student(s) with online training
• Focus on the safe and proper operation of machine tools
• Instruct student(s) in the proper procedures to layout parts and the correct use of hand tools.
• Instruct student(s) in the proper procedures to set up and operate a manual lathe, including tools, tool holding devices and work holding.
• Instruct student(s) in the proper procedures to set up and operate a manual milling machine, including tools, tool holding and work holding.
• Instruct student(s) in the proper procedures to set up and operate a surface grinder.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Associate degree from an accredited college or university in mechanical engineering or manufacturing or least (2) years of "hands on" work experience teaching in a vocational/technical capacity.
Preferred Qualifications:
• At least 2 years teaching experience at a community college or a university branch campus or (5) years of experience teaching in a vocational/technical capacity.
• Online distance education instruction experience a plus
Desired Competencies:
• Ability to organize and manage student instruction.
• Experience teaching or working closely and effectively with a diverse student population.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills including written and oral with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse professional, community, and student population.
• Ability and willingness to successfully interact with academic, business and regulatory personnel.
• Team player that is self-motivated with strong organizational and planning skills.
• Knowledge and skill in the use of various computers and software
