About the Role

In this position, you’ll be involved in the fabrication and welding of metal components, primarily aluminum. The role suits someone who is adaptable, comfortable working with various equipment, and takes pride in producing precise, high-quality work.

This is an active job that involves moving materials and working across different areas of the shop, so a good level of physical fitness is important.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Fabricating and welding metal components based on technical drawings
  • Working mainly with aluminum materials
  • Operating shop equipment such as welders, saws, shears, and bending machines
  • Checking finished products to ensure quality standards are met
  • Handling and moving materials (up to 50 lbs / 23 kg)
  • Keeping your work area clean and safe
  • Collaborating with team members to complete projects efficiently

What You Bring

  • Strong attention to detail and steady hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to lift and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the day
  • Comfortable reading measurements in metric (imperial is a bonus)
  • Good communication skills in English (spoken and written)
  • Dependable, honest, and safety-conscious work habits
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Experience & Skills 

  • Background in metal fabrication, welding, or working with aluminum/steel
  • All years of experience considered, however preference will be given to 3rd year and Journeyperson welders.
  • Must be registered with AIT.
  • Experience reading shop drawings or blueprints
  • Familiarity with fabrication equipment and bending machines
  • Experience using hand tools like drills and grinders
  • Willingness to learn new skills and take on different tasks as needed
