Job description

Bring your skills to a company where all 33 of our service locations proudly hold PremierCare Gold certification demonstrating our commitment to providing superior customer care. Kenworth Sales Co. is looking for a Service Technician (Trailer) to join our Caldwell, ID team.
Salary Minimum and Maximum: $26-$36 an hour depending on experience.
** Due to federally mandated DOT regulations, Kenworth Sales Company is a drug-free workplace. Any offer of employment will be contingent on passing a pre-employment drug screening.
JOB SUMMARY: The primary function of the Service Technician is to perform superior quality repairs tocustomer equipment and make recommendations for further services as determined by the Technician during service.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Receives repair order assignments from Shop Foreman
  • Follow instructions and executes work assignments in repair order thoroughly and efficiently.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair trailer bodies, systems, and components.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on semi-trucks and trailers
  • Ensure that trailers meet the U.S. DOT safety requirements
  • Maintains superior standard of workmanship in all services performed.
  • Advises Shop Foreman of any recommended changes in services ordered by the customer
  • Determines if any further repairs or servicing should be recommended to the customer, and communicates such recommendations to the Shop Foreman
  • Maintains a level of training and experience with specialized equipment, machinery, and servicing techniques necessary for superior servicing of the customer's equipment
  • Attends training sessions as required by the Service Manager
  • Performs additional repairs as required when any piece of equipment is returned by the customer because of the Technician's faulty workmanship
  • Maintains accurate work order records of work performed and time clocked on jobs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
2-3 years' experience in medium and/or heavy truck repair and maintenance. Fabrication and welding ability are required. Able to troubleshoot and repair brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Driver's license and clean driving record. Personal motivation and self-reliance. Manual dexterity. Ability to operate power and hand tools and other equipment safely. Excellent organization and communication skills. High school diploma or the equivalent. Ability to read, write and comprehend English instructions and information.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This is a physically demanding position. Will stand six to eight hours per shift. Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle and feel. Will lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds. Will use hand and power tools, hoist and test equipment. Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
