Purpose of Position:

The Machine Operator Associate supports the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of the grading and packing systems by performing a variety of tasks throughout the egg grading process. Responsibilities may include monitoring equipment, maintaining supplies, verifying product coding, and ensuring product quality, food safety, and a clean, organized work environment.

Essential Duties:

  • Monitor grading and packing equipment, operate the grader software as assigned, and respond to equipment issues to maintain continuous production.
  • Operate material handling equipment, including an electric pallet jack, to transport production materials safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment by following sanitation procedures throughout the shift and during end-of-shift cleanup.
  • Promptly report equipment malfunctions, product quality concerns, safety hazards, or suspicious activity to management.
  • Remain attentive to production operations and follow all food safety, quality, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:

  • Typical hours: Monday – Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Two 10-minute paid breaks and a 1-hour unpaid lunch break.
Requirements:
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to learn and operate grading and packing software.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and respond to routine equipment issues.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate basic information in English.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, with the ability to work with weights, measurements, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required safety, food safety, equipment, and job-specific training provided by Westfield Egg Farm.
  • Commitment to following all food safety, quality, and workplace safety standards.

Physical Requirements / Environmental Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to walk, to climb stairs and ladders, use hand to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee is regularly required to move about the facility. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to seek assistance in the lifting of more than 50 pounds or use a crane or hoists. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
