Job description

SRC Automotive, Inc. is a leader in the remanufacturing of engines used in the Automotive, Marine, Natural Gas & Oil and Power Systems industries.

Our Advanced CNC Operators operate machine shop equipment such as mills, lathes, grinders, presses, drill presses, CMM, or operate an assembly line for routine parts from casting. They may operate manual machining equipment. They produce production parts to required tolerances for preparation for the engine assembly.

This is a 1st shift position working 5:00 am-3:30 pm Monday-Thursday with mandatory overtime as needed.

About the Job:

  • Performs routine production duties by following written processes to operate machinery such as: mills, lathes, grinders, seat/guide/stud presses, induction heat treating equipment, drill presses, CMM, specialized gauging equipment for seat and guides and operate an assembly line to specific tolerances in required quantities.
  • Performs equipment set up, make machine offsets, maintain tooling, and may perform minor operating modifications to equipment as needed.
  • Responsible for the visual and quantifiable inspection of the result of their process.
  • Ability to use and understand general machine shop gauges, operate a CMM, and understand the CMM data to know when machines need adjusted.
  • Assess adjustments needed to CNC equipment by reviewing CMM reports, make adjustments as necessary, check adjustments for accuracy.
  • Resolves basic production and machine operating problems, reports non-routine machinery failures to the Team Leader or Production Supervisor for assistance.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in the department.
  • Follows all safety rules regarding machine operation and proper guarding.
  • Maintains a safe working environment by following company safety policies.
  • Performs daily Total Preventive Maintenance on the equipment to maintain their quality.
  • Assist in other production areas as needed.
  • Assist in SRC Automotive’s continuous improvement efforts.
  • Works within production processes to ensure compliance with IATF-16949.
  • Participates in and supports the principles of Open Book Management.

Work Environment:

Applicants must be able to work in a manufacturing environment. You may be exposed to harsh conditions such as dust, fumes, noise, and varying temperatures for extended period of times. PPE such as steel toed boots, safety glasses, gloves, and ear protection may be required.

Physical Requirements:

You will regularly be required to walk, stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk and hear. You may sit 5% of the time and stand/walk 95% of the time. You must be able to frequently lift or move 35 to 50 pounds.

  • Two or more years of experience in a manufacturing paced assembly line setting preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematics addition, subtraction, and conversions.
  • Ability to work back and forth between the metric and SAE standards.
  • Ability to use hand, air, and power tools.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Requires effective relationship management skills with co-workers in a team environment.
  • Basic computer literacy required. Ability to use computer systems to retrieve work process and Bills of Materials.
  • Requires the desire to expand knowledge, skills, and abilities through training and education.
