Job Summary

Spreadtrum is seeking an experienced WiFi MAC Software Engineer to join our WiFi team. This role will be responsible for the development of the embedded MAC firmware/driver for IEEE802.11 standard, focusing on MAC layer software design, implementation, and verification.

The candidate shall have deep expertise in WLAN standards, WiFi MAC architecture/protocol, wireless protocols, and software implementation for WiFi AP/STA systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, coding, and maintaining 802.11 MAC layer firmware/drivers to support next-generation Wi-Fi chips.
  • Work closely with WiFi PHY teams to implement MAC/PHY interface, hardware/software integration, and register-level API.
  • C/C++ coding for high performance WiFi MAC software, debugging complex MAC firmware/driver.
  • Bring-up, debug, diagnose, and optimize the performances of the WiFi MAC layer firmware/driver and hardware in lab test bench.
  • Create and implement test plans and test bench for MAC level verification and unit testing on firmware/driver/RTL.
  • Work closely with Standard, Systems, and Hardware teams to translate Technical Requirements Doc to MAC implementation design doc.


Qualifications

  • M.S. with 5+ years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of WLAN standards across multiple generations, including advanced standards 802.11 MAC, 802.11ax/be/bn, and related technologies.
  • Embedded C/C++, Device Drivers & Diagnostics.
  • Solid knowledge of network protocols, with deep expertise in Wireless LAN protocols.
  • Extensive experience in WiFi MAC software design and protocol implementation.
  • Proven ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and solve complex real-world system and application issues.
  • Demonstrated software experience in WiFi AP/STA MAC development.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across hardware, software, PHY, systems, and product teams.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work in a fast-paced, global engineering environment.
