Job description

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Surgery Scheduler, you will coordinate and schedule surgeries, procedures, and follow-up appointments across multiple physician teams, keeping each surgeon's operative, procedural, clinic, research, and administrative schedules aligned. You will serve as the central point of coordination for surgeons' overall practice across Seattle, RMC, and off-site clinic locations.

Every day you will manage day-of-visit patient flow, room patients, and handle phone and Cerner message communications to keep the clinic running smoothly. You will also provide procedure room support and step in for sick and vacation coverage to ensure continuity of care.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be highly organized and able to juggle multiple complex, overlapping schedules without losing track of details. You will also need strong communication skills and comfort working within Cerner and similar systems to keep surgeons, clinic staff, and patients coordinated.

  • Experience with IBM/Cerner/IDX
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and de-escalation skills
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Collaborative, reliable, and punctual
  • Medical Assistant Registered (MA-R) through the State of Washington, sponsored by Virginia Mason, required within 60 days of hire (only if required by the department for patient rooming and workflows)
