Graduate Assistant - Clinical Psychology
Position Description
The Graduate Assistant (GA) will work 20 hours per week and receive up to 24 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 9 for fall, 9 for spring and 6 for summer.
Overview:
The Clinical Psychology M.A. program's Departmental Graduate Assistantship is an ongoing position, pending re-approval each year, in which a graduate student is actively involved in various aspects of the program. The aim is to incorporate a student perspective in refining the many procedures we use while enabling a graduate student to learn program development in higher ed with a focus on clinical training. We aim to develop professional administrative and research skills, as well as the GA's capacity to provide supportive interactions with peers and faculty.
Duties:
The following list of our current G.A.'s responsibilities will continue to be the core of this position for the coming academic year. As new initiatives are developed related to (a) recruiting and meeting with potential applicants, (b) continuing to maintain accreditation-related systems, and © conducting projects for faculty and staff; other responsibilities may be added as appropriate.
  • Assist the Graduate Program Chair and graduate faculty committee to maintain MPCAC accreditation through projects, as well as procedural updates.
  • Assist the Graduate Program Admin in updating databases to track graduates (alumni), potential fieldwork sites, and opportunities for post-M.A. positions in the community.
  • Distribute COGS brochures and weblinks in response to potential applicants' inquiries (in person, via phone and email).
  • Assist in recruiting qualified students for our Graduate Program, including attending College of Graduate Studies information sessions (and possibly off-campus grad fairs at other colleges).
  • Assist in the maintenance and updates of the Graduate Program's blackboard site, vc219.
  • Assist psychology graduate faculty, as needed, with stand-alone course-relate
  • Assisting in the Student Feedback Survey assessments of current graduate students to facilitate ongoing program evaluation.
  • Update program bulletin boards, maintaining program's Facebook page.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, research skills and enrollment in the graduate program in psychology.
  • A desire to be involved with faculty, staff and students in ways which support the program, while learning about higher education program development.
