Job Description:

This recruitment will be used to fill 1 part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Teaching Assistant position for the College of Business at Oregon State University (OSU).

This is a part-time Teaching Assistant (TA) position for some sections of the BA270 course. The TA will have access to confidential data (e.g., Personally Identifiable Information). Hence, they must have high integrity, strong work ethics, and must abide by OSU and FERPA rules. Depending on their availability, candidate can work for a minimum of five hours per week, and a maximum of 20 hours per week. A majority of the TA work can be done remotely. Depending on candidate's availability and instructor/student needs, the TA work may involve lab demos, meeting with instructor, conducting help sessions, grading, editing content on the course Canvas site, communicating with instructor/students, and exam proctoring.

Pay rate for this position is $16.55 per hour.

Position Duties:

The successful candidate will meet with instructor as needed and help with some activities such as:

  • Reviewing and editing content on Canvas course site

  • Grading and data entry

  • Transcribing audio recordings of lectures

  • Conducting IT lab help sessions (e.g., basic Microsoft Visio)

The successful candidate is expected to:

  • Work one-on-one with students seeking academic help relating to BA270 (this may involve in-person and virtual meetings with students)

  • Have good interpersonal, listening, verbal and written communication skills

  • Be organized and have good time management skills

  • Identify and help process any academic integrity violations that may occur in the BA270 course.

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by theOffice of International Services(OIS) and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Required Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have successfully completed BA 270 (Business Process Management) course at Oregon State University

  • Applicants must be comfortable using and teaching MS Visio, MS

  • Dynamics and MS Office software as they relate to BA 270

  • Applicants must be interested in helping students with BA 270 related content.

Additional Required Qualifications:

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq.   • Preference will be given to applicants with a service mindset who are genuinely interested in helping students with BA 270 related content

  • Applicants must have successfully completed BA270 (Business Process Management) course at Oregon State University with a grade of B+ or higher

Working Conditions/Schedule:As the course may be an e-campus course, the job may require TAs to work and help students outside regular business hours. However, there is ample flexibility in selecting the hours during which the TA would prefer to work each week. The position allows for much variation in the hours selected each week.
