An LVN/LPN is a job title often left up to employer preference. An LPN or licensed practical nurse takes vital signs, administers prescribed medication, and helps patients with personal hygiene needs. They also help set up and clean healthcare equipment like catheters and oxygen suppliers. An LVN or licensed vocational nurse does nearly the same job duties. The education is often the same and the skills acquired through years of experience are similar. Hospitals, private practices, and convalescent homes may employ either a licensed vocational nurse or licensed practical nurse to care for patients.
