Job description

Overview

Lutron has an immediate opening in our Prototype Model Shop for a Prototype CNC Programmer and Machinist based at Lutron's Global Headquarters in Coopersburg, PA. In this position, you will be a key part of a team dedicated to producing intricate engineering prototypes and innovative tooling essential for manufacturing. You will use your technical expertise to machine, fabricate, or otherwise produce components and assemblies to support on-time delivery of engineering models and tooling for our internal customer base.

You will work closely with Lutron’s engineers and designers to bring exciting new products to market while ensuring prototypes and tooling produced meet the expected specifications and exhibit a world-class level of quality. A focus on customer service, continuous improvement and technology growth is desired for this position. The ideal candidate will support this with a sense of curiosity and an ever-growing drive to do things faster, better, and more cost effectively.


Responsibilities
  • Provide world-class customer service to Lutron’s engineers and designers in a vital role that supports new product development, manufacturing, and innovation
  • Program machined parts with the use of CAM software for CNC machining
  • Completes asssignments with passion, care, and attention to detail
  • Provide internal consulting for tool design, fabrication, and design for manufacturing
  • Investigate and participate in implementation of new strategies for raw material, tooling, and machinery utilization
  • Identify and participate in improvements for capability, capacity, and cost savings
  • Ability to independently solve problems – sometimes with little or no supervison and without prompting
  • Operate complementary technologies which could include Additive Manufacturing, LASER, Waterjet, etc.

Qualifications
  • Must meet one of the following minimum education requirements:
    • You hold a Journeyperson Apprenticeship Certificate (must provide documentation) OR
    • You have an Associate degree in Electromechanical Technology, Toolmaking/Tool & Die/Machine Tool Technology, or Manufacturing Engineering Technology (minimum 3.00 GPA required)
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software preferred; experience in Creo or Mastercam a plus
  • Experience with HAAS and Trak machining centers is a plus
