Position Summary

The Operations Team Lead – 1st Shift oversees daily operations for a specific shift or department—such as receiving, picking, packing, or shipping—to ensure all tasks are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule. Serving as the link between management and associates, this role assigns work, monitors progress, and resolves issues in real time.

The Team Lead trains and coaches employees, enforces safety standards, and collaborates with other departments to maintain efficient inventory flow and meet productivity and quality targets. This position models company values, fosters a positive team culture, and drives consistent performance in a fast-paced warehouse environment.


Key Responsibilities

• Operational Coordination: Assign tasks, monitor workflow, and adjust resources to meet daily shipping, receiving, or production targets.

• Team Leadership: Train new hires, coach associates on best practices, and provide feedback to maintain high performance and engagement.

• Safety & Compliance: Enforce all safety policies, conduct equipment checks, and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.

• Quality Control: Verify order accuracy, address errors or damages promptly, and maintain clean, organized work areas.

• Communication: Serve as the point of contact between associates and supervisors, relaying updates on priorities, issues, and progress.

• Reporting: Track productivity metrics, report variances, and recommend improvements to supervisors or managers.

Core Competencies/KSA’s

• Working knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, and basic shipping and receiving processes.

• Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS) and basic Microsoft Office or similar software.

• Strong leadership and coaching skills with the ability to set clear expectations, provide constructive feedback, and hold team members accountable for performance.

• Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment by promoting safety practices and addressing hazards or concerns promptly.

• Effective communication skills—both verbal and written—with the ability to collaborate across teams and departments.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to review data, identify issues, and make sound decisions under pressure.

• High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality in inventory and operational processes.

• Adaptability and flexibility to adjust to changing priorities, operational needs, and shifting workloads.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.


Preferred Qualifications

• 1–2 years of warehouse or distribution center experience; prior lead or supervisory experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to lift, carry, and move items—often 30–50 lbs regularly, and occasionally heavier depending on the role.

· Standing, walking, and bending for extended periods, sometimes for an entire shift.

· Repetitive motions, such as reaching, pulling, pushing, and manual handling of products.

· Operating or working around machinery and equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or conveyor systems (with appropriate training).

· Tolerating varying environmental conditions, like hot, cold, or noisy warehouse spaces.

Work Environment
