Job description

Lowndes, a full-service Florida law firm, is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our Finance team in our busy Orlando office. The Accounting Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of client payments and trust account transactions and provides support across the firm's accounting operations. The position offers opportunities for cross-training and professional development in accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other areas of law firm accounting. Applicants with 1-3 years of experience in a similar role are encouraged to apply. Experience in a law firm is strongly preferred but not required.


Responsibilities

  • Process and accurately apply client payments received by check, ACH, wire transfer, credit card, and other payment methods.
  • Record and maintain accurate transactions involving client trust accounts, including trust receipts and disbursements.
  • Process deposits and reconcile cash receipts, electronic payments, and credit card activity to supporting documentation and accounting records.
  • Research and resolve payment discrepancies, including partial payments, split payments, retainers, overpayments, and other exceptions.
  • Work with attorneys, billing specialists, and accounting team members to resolve payment and client account questions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and follow established accounting procedures and internal controls.
  • Cross-train in accounts receivable and accounts payable functions and provide support in these areas as needed.
  • Participate in accounting process improvements and develop broader knowledge of law firm financial operations.
