Job Title: Low Voltage Technician

Job Description

This role focuses on installing, supporting, and maintaining commercial security systems across regional markets from Beaufort, Bluffton, Hilton Head and Charelston areas. You will work on a wide range of security technologies such as CCTV, IP cameras, access control systems, and associated low-voltage cabling in commercial, educational, and public sector environments. The position offers a strong pipeline of projects, long-term opportunities, and clear pathways for career development within a rapidly growing security-focused organization.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and support commercial security systems including CCTV and IP camera systems, access control systems, and related devices.
  • Install, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling, including Cat6 and other structured cabling, ensuring neat routing and dressing of cables.
  • Install and wire access control equipment such as card readers, badge readers, door contacts, door sensors, magnetic locks, electric strikes, and push-to-exit devices.
  • Install and integrate door hardware and associated security components in commercial construction and existing facilities.
  • Read and interpret basic construction drawings, project plans, and device layouts to ensure accurate placement and installation of security equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with low-voltage systems, security devices, cameras, and access control equipment, and implement effective solutions.
  • Use basic hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete installation and service tasks.
  • Maintain quality, safety, and workmanship standards in all installations, adhering to project specifications and industry best practice.
  • Support project completion schedules by coordinating tasks, managing time effectively, and communicating progress with supervisors and team members.
  • Work safely on ladders and lifts when installing devices at height, following all relevant safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and trades on-site to ensure smooth project delivery and minimal disruption to customer operations.
  • Provide professional communication with customers and colleagues, representing the organisation positively on-site.
  • Travel within the assigned regional market to support multiple projects, including commercial buildings, schools, public sector facilities, and existing customer locations.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of experience in low-voltage, structured cabling, or security system installation.
  • Hands-on experience with camera systems and/or access control systems in commercial environments.
  • Experience pulling, routing, dressing, and terminating low-voltage cabling, including Cat6 and similar cable types.
  • Practical exposure to installing or assisting with IP cameras, CCTV systems, card readers, badge readers, door contacts, door sensors, magnetic locks, electric strikes, push-to-exit devices, and access control equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand basic construction drawings and device layouts.
  • Ability to work safely and confidently on ladders and lifts.
  • Capability to work in commercial construction environments, including active job sites and occupied facilities.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as part of daily installation duties.
  • Competence in using basic hand and power tools for electrical, cabling, and installation tasks.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for low-voltage and security systems.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to various project sites within the region.
  • Strong attendance, punctuality, and overall reliability.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Professional communication skills for interacting with customers, site personnel, and colleagues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience installing cameras and access control systems in commercial or public sector environments.
  • Experience working with door hardware including magnetic locks, electric strikes, and various access control readers.
  • Previous experience in commercial construction environments, including new builds and retrofit projects.
  • Experience troubleshooting low-voltage systems, including security and alarm systems.
  • Familiarity with alarm systems, wireless security devices, and related electrical wiring.
  • Exposure to programming or configuring security systems and devices.
  • OSHA certification or equivalent safety training.
  • BICSI certification or structured cabling accreditation.
  • Experience working on school projects or other customer sites that may require after-hours work.

Some customer projects, particularly in schools and educational facilities, may require after-hours work, with shifts that can run from around 3:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. depending on customer needs. You will work across a variety of project types, including commercial buildings, schools, existing customer locations, construction sites, and public sector facilities.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hollywood, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
