What is a low voltage sales representative?

Low Voltage Sales Representatives are professionals who specialize in selling low voltage electrical systems and products, such as security systems, access control, fire alarms, and data cabling. They work with clients to identify their needs, provide technical information, and recommend the best solutions. Their role often involves generating leads, preparing proposals, negotiating contracts, and building long-term customer relationships within the construction, commercial, and residential sectors.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a low voltage sales representative?

To thrive as a Low Voltage Sales Representative, you need a solid understanding of low voltage systems (such as security, fire alarms, and networking), sales techniques, and typically a high school diploma or higher education in a related field. Familiarity with CRM software, quoting tools, and common low voltage product lines or certifications (like BICSI or NICET) is often required.
