Job description

Farmington Country Club presents an exciting opportunity for the right individual to join our high-volume and fast-paced Food and Beverage Operations team as an Casual Restaurant Server! Our servers consistently deliver high-quality service to our members and their guests in a friendly, professional manner An ideal candidate has a background in serving, has wine & beverage knowledge, and is looking to give members and their guests fantastic, personalized service. An ideal Casual Restaurant Server candidate is available evenings and weekends, as is looking to work 3-5 shifts a week, and is comfortable working both inside and outside dining areas within our Casual Restaurant, The Grill.

The Grill is the go-to spot for members of Farmington Country Club, and is a casual sit-down restaurant & bar with a focus on American Bistro style cuisine with a complimenting bar program. The Grill hosts four different dining options – the Bar & Pub, the Dining Room, the Terrace, and the Take-Out. Member expectations often differ between the spaces, although they are still there to enjoy the same great food, elevated drinks, and excellent service. The Grill is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner service 7 days a week.

Operation Hours:

  • Breakfast 7:30am-11:00am
  • Lunch 11:00am-2:30pm
  • Pub Menu & Bar Service 2:30pm-5:00pm
  • Dinner 5:00pm-9:00pm
  • Late Night Service 9:00pm-10:30pm on Fridays & Saturdays

Shifts:

  • Breakfast/Lunch Shift: 6:45am-3:30pm
  • Lunch Shift: 10:00am-3:30pm
  • Dinner Shift: 3:00-11:00pm

Pay:

Restaurant servers make $3.10/hourly base pay. All checks in the restaurant have an automatic 20% gratuity and members have the opportunity to give an additional tip. Servers work on a tip pool system that automatically pools all tips & additional gratuity between the team. Servers also tip out bartenders, bussers and runners a percentage of sales. The average sales per cover for lunch is $24.83 and the average sales per cover for dinner $33.70

Responsibilities:

  • Follow staff checklists for opening, side-work, and closing duties
  • Maintain cleanliness of tables and chairs and ensure proper set-up
  • Write down and commit to memory daily specials
  • Greet members by name throughout their dining experience
  • Maintain extensive food, beer, wine, and liquor knowledge (includes: ingredients, cooking procedures, etc.), in order to provide accurate information to members
  • Take beverage and food orders and input them accurately into the POS
  • Ask for identification for anyone ordering alcohol who appears to be under the age of 30
  • Deliver beverages and food to tables according to position numbers and kitchen service standards
  • Verify name and account number for every chit; settle chits accurately
  • Maintain table cleanliness throughout meal; monitor beverage levels
  • Be attentive to Terrace and North Lawn with cocktail service
  • Assist with seating and communicate with host or manager as tables open
  • Clean and reset tables; check chair and floor cleanliness
  • Maintain continuous floor presence throughout the shift
  • Communicate and assist other Floor Teammates. Assume busser, runner or server duties as needed
  • Follow Club and department safety and sanitation procedures
  • Report lost or forgotten items to managers
  • Complete other duties as assigned thoroughly and in a timely manner
  • Advise managers of staff or member concerns and suggestions
  • Participate in staff pre-shift meetings
  • Adhere to Virginia ABC Laws

Qualifications: 

  •  Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age
  •  A minimum of one year of similar food service experience preferred
  • Wine & beverage knowledge preferred
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull at least 30 pound
  • Must be able to walk and stand for six hours consecutively
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • A high level of professionalism is required
  • This is a year-round position and is not intended for summer-only employment. Candidates must have availability to work throughout the year, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
