Job description

Job Summary

The Analytics Engineer plays a critical role in enabling enterprise reporting and data-driven decision-making by transforming raw data into trusted, well-modeled datasets. This role supports the BICC’s mission to deliver high-quality, scalable reporting solutions across operational and organizational domains, including Finance, Sales, and Supply Chain. The Analytics Engineer collaborates with BI Developers, business stakeholders, and data governance teams to ensure reporting data is accurate, consistent, and aligned with enterprise standards. 

Essential Job Functions *

  • Design and maintain semantic data models that reflect business logic and reporting requirements.
  • Build and manage data transformation workflows using SQL and modern data tools (e.g., dbt).
  • Partner with BI Developers to ensure data is structured for optimal reporting performance and usability.
  • Implement version control, documentation, and testing practices to ensure data reliability and transparency.
  • Collaborate with Data Governance and IT to align data definitions, sources, and standards. 
  • Support intake and prioritization of reporting requests through the BI Governance pillar. 
  • Contribute to the development of centralized reporting assets for Oracle Fusion and other enterprise systems.

Education & Experience

  • Experience in business conversations about data to ensure relevance and usability of reporting. 
  • Experience with data transformation tools (e.g., dbt, stored procedures, ETL frameworks). 

Competencies – Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • Strong proficiency in SQL, including complex queries for data extraction, transformation, and modeling. 
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure Synapse, Redshift). 
  • Understanding of BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker, with hands-on experience in dashboard development. 
  • Proficiency in data modeling and DAX for building semantic layers and analytical models. 
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions through effective communication and documentation. 
  • Skilled in requirement gathering to bridge business and technical teams. 
  • Awareness of table views, structures, and data staging to support performant and maintainable BI solutions. 
  • Familiarity with Python for building data pipelines and automating ingestion processes. 
  • Knowledge of reporting quality standards and governance practices. 
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.
