Job description

We are seeking a highly analytical and technically skilled Business Analyst / Databricks Developer contractor in Akron, OH to support finance, operations, and executive decision-making through data-driven solutions. This role blends business analysis, financial modeling, data engineering, and dashboard development. The ideal candidate will be strong in Excel, experienced with Databricks, SQL, Python/Pandas, and capable of building impactful Power BI dashboards that turn complex data into actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities:
Business Analysis & Finance
  • Partner with finance, operations, and leadership teams to gather requirements and identify reporting needs.
  • Build budgets, forecasts, variance analyses, and financial models.
  • Analyze operational and financial performance trends to support strategic decisions.
  • Develop KPIs and scorecards for executive leadership.
  • Improve business processes through automation and data insights.
Data Engineering / Databricks
  • Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Databricks.
  • Transform and cleanse large datasets for reporting and analytics use.
  • Optimize data models and workflows for performance and scalability.
  • Integrate multiple data sources including ERP, finance systems, and operational platforms.
Reporting & Dashboard Development
  • Design and maintain interactive dashboards in Microsoft Power BI.
  • Create executive-level reporting packages with clear visual storytelling.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and governance across reporting tools.
  • Automate recurring reports and manual processes.
Technical / Analytics
  • Write complex queries in SQL to extract and analyze data.
  • Use Microsoft Excel advanced functions including PivotTables, Power Query, formulas, VBA/macros preferred.
  • Use Python and pandas for data wrangling, automation, and advanced analytics.
  • Support ad hoc analysis and data requests from leadership teams.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in business analysis, finance analytics, BI, or data engineering roles.
  • Strong finance acumen with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, SQL, Power BI, and Excel.
  • Proficiency in Python/Pandas.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to present to business leaders and executives.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle ERP.
  • Experience in utilities, manufacturing, banking, or large enterprise environments.
  • Knowledge of Azure data ecosystem.

Success Profile:
The right candidate is someone who can move comfortably between a finance meeting, an executive dashboard review, and building a Databricks pipeline the same day. Strong business judgment plus technical execution is critical.
