What is the #1 reason paraprofessionals leave their jobs?

The most common reason long-term substitute paraprofessionals leave their positions is low pay and limited benefits, which can lead to financial instability. Additionally, job stress, lack of advancement opportunities, and challenging work environments contribute to high turnover rates among paraprofessionals.

What is the 5 day rule for subbing?

For a Longterm Substitute Paraprofessional, the 5 day rule typically refers to the policy that a substitute cannot work more than five consecutive days in the same position without being officially hired or replaced. This rule helps ensure proper staffing and compliance with district or school policies regarding substitute assignments.

Is long-term subbing worth it?

Long-term substitute paraprofessionals often gain valuable classroom experience and develop skills in student support, behavior management, and instructional assistance. The position can lead to permanent roles or certifications, but pay and benefits may be limited compared to full-time positions, so its value depends on career goals and local employment conditions.
