Job Description

Apply your expertise to advance the mission and optimize our business strategy as a Secure Mobile Communications Engineer at GDIT. Here, youll support solving some of our clients biggest challenges and help us grow the business.
Responsibilities: We are looking for a competentengineerto provide on-site support to executive level clientele at the customer location. You must be able to think on your feet and provide immediate feedback to any questions asked during operation, fielding, testing, and training for secure mobile support devices used by the client. You will be required to develop strategies for streamlining the executive support process, and author and deliver technical instructions and training material. You will be required to record technical information and schematics and create digital representations of real-world deployable systems and equipment.

Candidate must be local to the area. Some telecommuting allowed.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Assist in the planning, configuration, implementation, and installation of mobile and fixed communications platforms.
  • Manage inventory control documents and life cycle maintenance schedules associated with operational equipment.
  • Conduct routine and emergency maintenance and repair actions on: Wideband Satellite Communications (SATCOM) equipment, Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) endpoints, Ultra-high Frequency/Super-high Frequency/Very-high Frequency/High Frequency (UHF/SHF/VHF/HF) radio platforms, desktop and laptop computer terminals, fiber optic media converters and repeaters, and data equipment to include server hardware, keyboard video and mouse (KVM) terminals, routers, switches, and fiber distribution panels.
  • Provide administration, operations support, technical support, and customer support on deployed Land Mobile Radio (LMR), SATCOM, 5G cellular routers, and Windows terminals in a field environment.
  • Receive, transport, load, and configure communications security (COMSEC) keying material for secure communications equipment.
  • Provide feedback and guidance in developing solutions to unique mission requirements involving replacement, upgrades, and augmentations to existing communications capabilities.
  • Develop, standardize, and deliver training seminars or lectures to customers covering the proper operations and maintenance of mobile secure communications platforms.
  • Document standard operating procedures, routine tasks, updates to systems information in manuals, diagrams, reports, and flow charts.
  • Assist directly in logistics operations pertaining to acquisition, receipt, relocation, and deployment of equipment.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Available for travel within the continental United States for periods of time up to two weeks in support of mission activities.
  • Possesses an active TOP SECRET clearance and possesses eligibility requirements to access Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to articulate complex mission information to members of U.S. Governments leadership.
  • Be capable of establishing and cultivating friendly relationships with partner agency personnel, third party equipment providers, and sibling programs.
  • Must be self-sufficient and capable of maintaining required operational tempo when working autonomously or with minimal supervision.
  • Work location will be in Washington, D.C. and offices in the DMV area. Work hours are flexible, but contract staff must meet minimal requirements on a weekly basis. CONUS travel is at the request of the customer and may not be flexible under some circumstances.
  • Bachelors degree + 2 years or 6 years of equivalent experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Highly knowledgeable on mobile communications systems to include the Iridium satellite constellation, 4G LTE/5G mobile routers, secure mobile cellular devices, and VHF/SHF/UHF radio platforms.
  • Understanding of IP networking fundamentals, VOIP systems architecture, encrypted video teleconferencing (VTC) systems, and the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).
  • Knowledge of satellite communications technologies to include UHF/Ku/Ka bands, Milstar capabilities, WGS capabilities, TDMA and FDMA network architecture, and procedures for accessing communications assets in the space segment.
  • Knowledge of radio frequency theory, including HF radio propagation, VHF radio capabilities, and radio encryption methods
  • Understanding of site design and equipment integration based on established deployment operating procedures and requirements.
  • Familiar with systems integration procedures to include hardware framing and mounting methods, basic soldering, power tool operation, minor modification of plastic and metal bench stock parts, and cable installation and removal techniques.
  • Knowledge of general principles of electrical circuits, fabricating and splicing of electrical connectors, and testing electronic equipment using digital multimeters.
  • Experience in troubleshooting complex communications problems using specialized testing equipment such as spectrum analyzers, optical time domain reflectometers (OTDR), bit error rate testers, network traffic analyzers, and packet inspection equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Windows 10, Windows administrative tools, and Windows software interoperability.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted standards pertaining to technical writing/documentation associated with operational requirements documents, standard operating procedures, and quick reference guides.
  • Understanding of solutions procurement process to include assessment of alternatives, requirements analysis, budget restrictions, and implementation constraints.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $97,750 - $132,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
