Job Description

Job Title: Logistics Coordinator

Schedule: Wednesday to Saturday 0600-1700 (6a-5p)

SUMMARY

The Logistics Coordinator handles transactional work on the accounts and will work closely with transportation providers (Carriers) and internal support teams to identify opportunities for improvement. The Logistics Coordinator is the primary transactional based day-to-day contact and covers the customer service role at plant level. The Logistics Coordinator will play a key role in achieving ProTrans objectives and contribute to identifying, analyzing, and developing supply chain solutions to improve Customer’s experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Communicate with LTL carriers to confirm pickups and deliveries exceptions and perform check calls in ProTrans’ TMS System.
  • Facilitate successful border crossing operation in conjunction with Border Crossing team and notify Customers about any deviation on customs process at the border.
  • Responsible for arranging the expedite shipment needs of the Customer and effectively communicating with ProTrans’ Expedite team.
  • Assist Customers plants with daily operational issue resolution.
  • Responsible for escalating service level issues to Operations Manager.
  • Communicate holiday schedules to customers and/or any internal adjustment at ProTrans.
  • Responsible for ensuring the customer is aware of any exceptions in performance, delays etc.
  • Responsible for ensuring reporting is distributed as necessary (daily, weekly, monthly)
  • Work with ProTrans’ Account Receivable team to secure billing process on a timely manner.

Additionally, for 3PL Accounts:

  • Logistics Plan Management: responsible for fully understanding the logistics plan for their customers. Gather, understand, and submit complete changes/adjustments to the plan.
  • Responsible for entering bid requests as necessary to accommodate the plan and adjustments to the plan.
  • Responsible for ensuring unplanned requests are handled for the customer.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This role may serve as a team leader for an assigned work group.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.

  • Critical Thinking / Problem Solving. Utilize problem solving skills and excellent customer service to resolve complex and intricate problems within supply chain and logistics plans.
  • Serve as an integral point-of-contact stationed between both ProTrans and Customer.
  • Interact with varying levels of management and operations within a matrixed organization.
  • Remain compliant with Customs and C-TPAT regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to adapt and react to frequently changing circumstances within logistics.
  • Strong ability in time management and the maintenance of several occurring tasks and projects.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • +1 year of industry experience within logistics and supply chain and/or bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transportation or business-related field.
  • Automotive logistics experience preferred but not required.
  • Willing to travel both nationally and internationally to customer locations within the ProTrans International network.
  • Experience using web-based business intelligence tools and Microsoft Office.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • This role requires solid verbal and written communication skills in English (bi-lingual abilities in Spanish is preferred)
  • Ability to read and interpret document such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively in English and Spanish before a group of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, trends, statistical techniques and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Excellent computer skills including all Microsoft Office programs.
